Katie has been playing the piano since the age of 6. She has ABRSM Grade 8 in piano. She started to take singing lessons at the age of 13, having decided that singing was something she would like to take more seriously.
Following A-level music, she went to the Nexus Academy of Music Ministry in Coventry to study music with a focus on singing.
On returning from Coventry, Katie started to teach a few people to play the piano as something to earn a bit of money while she found something 'better' to do. She soon discovered that it was a job that she loved doing and so carried on. PurplePig Music has grown and grown ever since.
In 2003, Katie started working for Stagecoach Theatre Arts school in Northampton as vocal coach. She taught 150 children aged from 6 to 18 for 8 years, before deciding to leave.

She has also gained a certificate of teaching from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and a City and Guilds certificate in further and adult education teaching.
Following her departure from Stagecoach, Katie found that she missed teaching group singing and hearing harmonies, and her own arrangements of songs used. This is where the idea for the PurplePig Singers came from. In September 2011, the ladies choir started, which changed it's name to Sing! in 2012.
Katie does all of the choir arrangements herself and loves nothing more than to hear the lovely ladies sing them!
